Hawk Wind Indicator
The Hawk is the original Hawk Wind Indicator and sets the standard by which all wind indicators are judged. With a lightweight, balanced arm and the Hawk “V” jewel bearing surface this is the ultimate in wind indicator technology. The vane arm is made from super tough Nylon, therefore giving good rigidity and UV Protection. The support rod is high grade aluminium allowing it to be bent if required and also straightened should it be knocked or damaged.
The easily removable mast clip can be mounted either vertically or horizontally and is easily removed without tools. Adjust and lock the reference arms at any angle for quick, at a glance indication, of either gybing or tacking angles.

Assembly Instructions
- The Vane Arm should be perfectly balanced when it leaves the factory
- Test this by putting the Support Rod into the vane arm and just slowly lift it off the table. The Vane Arm should remain parallel to the table
- If either end of the Vane arm drops quickly you will need to reposition the Counter Weight
- Gently bend the front of the Vane Arm until the counter weight lifts up. Slide it in the necessary direction and retest
- When the position of the Counter Weight is correct ensure it is securely pushed into the Vane
- Place the lip of the Vane Arm shaft into the locking block recess
- Push the Support Rod up through the locking block and into the Vane
- Push the Support Rod in far enough to ensure the vane arm is lifted clear of the Locking Block Surface
- As a result, the Vane arm should now turn perfectly with no friction
- Tighten the bottom of the 2 screws to lock the Lock-ing Block onto the Support
- The support rod will just clip in or out as required. Now place the 2 Reference Arms into the holes on top of the Locking Block
- Adjust them to the desired reference angle. Tighten the top of the 2 screws to lock them in position
Mounting
- Align the Mast clip to the top of your mast. It is ideally situated about 6cm from the top and clear of all the pullies
- You will need to drill 2 x 2.5mm holes and also screw the mast clip in with the Screws provided
- The support rod will just clip in or out as required
- The Support Rod may need to be bent so that it stands vertically when the boat and mast are in their neutral position
- You may also need to loosen the Locking Block and rotate it until the reference arms are equal distance either side of the boats centre line
- Ensure the lock-ing block is re-tightened and the Vane Arm is still clear of the Locking
